Itinerary based on the artist Marcel Duchamp

The City of Rouen has organised three itineraries as part of the Marcel Duchamp Award exhibition, allowing visitors to discover the artist and his successors. There will also be workshops for children aged 6 to 12.

TWO VISITOR ITINERARIES :

  • At Saint-Ouen abbey church and the musée des Beaux-Arts
    Saturdays 5, 12 and 26 July ♦ Saturdays 2, 16 and 23 August ♦ Saturdays 6, 13 and 27 September
    Meeting point : at the entrance to the Musée des Beaux-Arts at 3 p.m.
    Duration : 2 hours
    Price : free
    Sign language visits will be available on Saturdays 26 July and 6 August.
  • At the abbey church and the associated galleries
    Saturday 19 July ♦ Saturays 9 and 30 August ♦ Saturday 20 september
    Meeting point : at the Portail des Marmousets entrance to Saint-Ouen Abbey Church at 3 p.m
    Duration : 2 hours
    Price : Free
    Associated galleries : Galerie Störk, Grandes Galeries de l'Esadhar, le 180 contemporary art exhibition centre.

ITINERARY BASED ON THE ARTIST MARCEL DUCHAMP :

The CREA has organised an itinerary based around Marcel Duchamp, as part of the Ville et Pays d’Art et d’Histoire (City and Region of Art and History) label. It includes the Maison Duchamp, the Lycée Corneille and the former Gamelin chocolate shop, among other locations. Discover how these places influenced his art. Each site is bursting with surprising and original anecdotes about the anartist.
Guided visits every Wednesday from 16 July to 27 August.
Meeting point : in front of the Musée des Beaux-Arts at 3 p.m.
Duration : 2 hours

CONTEMPORARY ART TRAIL IN ROUEN

Discover four visual artists who have previously been nominated for the Marcel Duchamp Award :

  • Michel Blazy has created an installation entitled Au tombeau de la vaisselle, which will develop over the course of the exhibition at the Galerie Störk from 4 July to 28 September.
  • Nicolas Moulin launches his STEPPTERMINAL 01 series at Le 180 contemporary art exhibition centre in Rouen from 4 July to 31 August. The series is based on the facades of buildings symbolic of Brutalist architectural modernism.
    From 18 September, Le 180 will present Danse macabre by Claude Levêque.
  • Tu ne dis jamais rien is a collection of works by Pierre Ardouvin. They will be on display from 4 July to 28 September at the Grandes Galeries de l’Ecole Supérieure d’Art et Design in Le Havre – Rouen (ESADHaR).

Three other venues will also be opening their doors free of charge this summer :

  • The FRAC Haute-Normandie invites Sophie Dubosc to present Avec ou sans raison, her first exhibition in a French institution; until 27 July.
  • The majestic landscapes of Jean-Pierre Ugarte will be on display at the Galerie Duchoze until 18 September.
  • The Galerie Ubi is hosting the work of Emmanuel Lagarrigue, entitled Quelque chose suit son cours until 19 July. His work is based around language, memory, experience and perception.
